Modern Paphos is the fastest growing town on the Island with many fine beaches, sandy beaches and excellent leisure facilities. Surrounded by majestic scenery including banana plantations (the only area in Cyprus to have bananas) and the Akamas conservation area where the protected Turtles lay their eggs. Its cultural and historical riches include the colourful mosaics in the House of Dionysos preserved for sixteen centuries under the soil. You can also see the Christian catacombs ancient Byzantine churches, castles, mediaevel fort and the Tombs of the Kings. In September you can book tickets for the open air Opera at the Old Fort at Paphos harbour where you will see famous Ballets. Tickets from the Cyprus Tourist board. We have many festivals and the main on being the Assention of Holy Mother 15th August with dancing, food and wine. At the harbour you can book a sunset cruise or hire speed boats. Coral Bay has the best natural beach in the area. With a gentle breeze shallows where children can play safely and pleasent swimming in the calm sea that remains warm until early December. There is also an array of watersports that will satisfy the sports enthusiasts.
Polis is located North West of the region of Pafos at a 30 minute distance from the town of Pafos, 50 minutes from Pafos airport and less than 2 hours away from Larnaca airport. Polis/Latchi area is home to the Baths of Aphrodite at the edge of the Akamas Pennisula. Sailing and watersports can be found at Latchi Marina. Many wonderful fish restaurants along the sea front. LYSSOS is located about 36 kilometres north-east of Pafos. It is the largest -with regard to territory -village of the Pafos district and covers a range of 9,526 hectares. LYSOS village is built at an average altitude of 560 metres and it borders with the Nicosia district in the east. The village's highest point is "Tripylos" (1,362 metres), located in the most eastern section of the village, in the "Stavros tis Psokas" region. The community is crossed by the river of "Stavros tis Psokas" and the river of "Ezousa". The largest part of the village's territorial range is covered by forest and wild vegetation. These are the grounds were the Cyprus Mouflon ("Agrino", Ovis Orientalis Ophion Cyprius) and several other rare birds live. There are remarkable Nature Trails in the region, the visitor being able to observe many varieties of plants and birds.
